Mobile Extension and Caller ID
« on: May 07, 2009, 02:20:54 AM »
Hi, does any one have any experience with Mobile Extension and caller ID?

i.e. External call 02 12345678 calls my desk phone 07 12345678.

When my mobile rings, it shows the call as being from 07 1234 5600 (the reception number), instead of 02 1234 5678.

Any ideas?

Early versions didn't pass along the originating caller ID.
Be sure you're running at latest version.

Thanks for that. We are using the latest version (as the unit was only installed last year), Also, we have software maintenance until end of this year. Our local guys believe is a network locked due to legislation requirements (although I have seen another company that has it working, although this person is the staff of a network carrier) ... so I am not 100% sure whether its a settings issue or just doesn't work.

The latest version works.
Unfortunantly I don't have time to dig into the COS today but look at both the COS of the mobilty ports and the COS of the trunks.

Also, it may be possible, that the carrier will not let you show any other outbound caller ID outside of your DID block.

We have been running into more and more telco's that will not let you do the pass through caller ID.  They claim they have to block this type of activity due to some law/rule - I can see why but it does make some of the things we are used to doing less fun....

Thanks for the response guys. I think it is a carrier issue - because the number being show from external calls is the first number of our in-dial range. Where as, if someone from within that range calls (i.e. another extension), it will send the full caller ID to the mobile.

Hi, I am in the U.K and here BT will not allow you to send out a CLI that you do not own. Therefore if someone calls into your business and is diverted out (Be it by ME or CFA) then the CLI will be replaced with either your default CLI or the CLI of the set that receives the call.

I suspect that some carriers will not allow a call to go out at all if the CLID is not one you own.

caller ID spoofing is becoming more and more of a problem esp with IP carriers...

there have been documented police cases of people being able to stalk others, access credit card and bank info, bill collectors impersonating people's Loved ones, etc...

all this is causing pressure on the telcos to lock down what caller ID can be sent from the CPE to the network...

As of now we couldn't see this extension. If this extension appear what will happen?

In Germany you'll have to order the feature "CLIP no screening" from your provider to make it work...
