Central control of handset paging volume
« on: May 05, 2009, 05:49:06 PM »
  All,

I have a school for a customer that would like to be able to override user set volumes on the handsets when doing through the handset paging.  IE: prevent the teachers from turning it all the way down.

The paging volume seems to be tied to the user set volume for speaker phone.  Also the COS options for enabling/disabling saving of the volume for handsets does not seem to work on the speaker phone/paging volume (IE: users changes are saved).

I even considered setting up an emergency group - which would give them an "alarm" in the classrooms, but would not allow them to give specific instructions - the other problem with this idea was that the first teacher to "acknowledge" the alarm would stop the alerting on the other handsets.

My only idea at this point is to go with overhead paging from IP paging units, but wanted to run it by the experts first :)

  Thanks in advance....

Nope, think I'm out of luck here.
