3300ICP V8 database to MCD5 import
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:15:32 AM »
Can it be done directley or in any way. I have a 3300 V8 system that I have to replace (for various reasons) and it would be nice just to suck the database off the V8 and import it into MCD 5. I doubt it because of SDS issues but just thought I would ask the assembled throng....

Nope... you have to go to MCD 4.0 first, clean up the directory and LNO issues, then convert and backup... from there you can go up to current.

No way around it... that being said, you could just export the major forms then import them into the new controller but it would still require a lot of manual cleanup. But I betting in most instances it is easier and faster to install 4.0 software, restore, cleanup, convert, and then upgrade to current.

Cheers, thought so. Don't want to go to 4.0 because its a very old controller (MX 20 user ) and out of SWA. Hence replacing with a new controller (CX2) and MCD5.0. I'll just programme it manually as most of it can be done by the software wizard now anyway and its standalone. Got to bugger about with it anyway since BT have done their usual trick and cocked up the order for the PRI so have to wait 4 - 6 weeks for that to be installed and meanwhile we have to work with analogue's...... >:(  ::)

If I remember correctly the old MX systems dont handle MCD 4.0 or higher.
You could look at rolling your CX2 back to 4.0 using the old DB structure when you first log in load the db convert and upgrade again.

The option is yours.

The Mx is only supported to 9, but if you are using the same ARID for the Cx you will have to renew the SWA anyway. Or you could backup the DB and restore on the CX running 4.x and go from there.
