DSP alarm
« on: August 17, 2012, 10:59:53 AM »
I have an alarm on one of my 3300s...Dsp Failure  Major  20Total   5% unavailable.

Running a Show Status DSP i get the following results....

Dsp Status: (Warning! This only displays the current state of the dsps in the system.  Failures previous to a system reboot are not recorded.)

Slot Number 5 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 1 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 4 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 5 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 6 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 5 Dsp 7 State: ACTIVE

Slot Number 6 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 1 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 4 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 5 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 6 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 7 State: ACTIVE

Slot Number 7 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 7 Dsp 1 State: OUT OF SERVICE
Slot Number 7 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 7 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE

What exactly is a DSP?

What kind of issues will this cause?

How can this be fixed?  I have seen a few posts about restarting the system, not sure i want to do that just yet considering I am in NY and the system is in PA.

I am not very fluent in the inner workings of the system, but i needed I can get Mitel Support involved if this is something that cannot resolve.

Thanks

-Evan

Are you networked with other systems?
I've seen similar things if a node is off line.
But from your print out, I'd lean more towards a bad DSP module.

We are clustered...but all nodes are up and running.  I would certainly know about that.

What is the DSP module, and what does it do.

By having one not available what sort of issues might i see in the system?

Thanks

DSP is use for MOH, conferencing, VoiceMail, Call Progression tone generation and detection, compression, FAX Relay.

I don't think you will have a problem, but you will lose one dsp ressources.
