5312/5324 and 802.1X
« on: March 11, 2009, 04:36:03 PM »
Hello,

I have a few 5330 phones authenticating with my network with 802.1X and they work great. We just received some 5324/5312 and they will not authenticate. On the 5330 they will say port access failure and then allow you to enter in a username/password and they reboot and connect no problem. These 5324/5312 are not prompting me for a username/password and therefore not autheicating to the network. Can anyone help??

Thanks!

Have the phones ever been booted? They may need a firmware update. There were a bunch of dot1x errors with earlier firmware.

i thought of that as well. these are brand new phones so i plugged them directly into the ICP 3300 so that it bypasses my network and authentication hoping that it would upgrade the firmware. i did not upgrade the firmware so i guess it didn't need it. is there a way to find out what the latest fm is for the phone and also what fm is on the phone so I can confirm. maybe the firmware isn't loaded on the 3300.

well we upgraded to 9.0 UR2 because it contained a new FW version for the 5312/5314, but still will not authenticate via 802.1X. I think the phones are not sending the correct 802.1X authentication request because I am seeing no record of an authentication attempt on my RADIUS servers.

is anyone using 802.1X with 5312/5324 phones? The 5330 phones work great with 802.1X

This is a long-dead thread, but I thought I'd reply.  I'm having the same issue - 5212s prompt for do1x credentials, but 5312s don't.  Has anyone gotten this to work?
