Are UCA Softphones too quiet?
« on: May 08, 2012, 01:46:36 PM »
What I mean is...if I decide to use my softphone at work (on my laptop and using a Logitech headset) instead of my deskphone, I have a high frequency of calls dropped by the other party, when the other party is an automated menu that I have to "press 1 for sales, 2 for tech support, 3 for whatever."

Since I'm an IT guy (and newer phone guy), I make a lot of calls to places like this and frequently, the calls just drop.  If I call back via the deskphone, they don't.  I think it's because these systems I'm calling into detect no activity and drop me before I can press the virtual keypad.

Does this make sense?  And if so, is there something I can do about it?

Also, when I'm dialing out via softphone, the ringing is not as "normal" as a desk phone.  It almost sounds like, but not quite, two near simultaneous rings happening at the same time.

Thanks for suggestions or advice on this.

What version of UCA are you using?  I had issues with earlier releases and Auto Attendants.  Haven't experienced symptoms or reports like that in a while though.
