Problem with voicemail picking up on Intertel Softphone 8602

Running mitel 5000 on v4.0 - I have an Intertel softphone 8602 setup with a voicemail box - when dialing internally the vm picks up no problem.  However I cannot get the DID to go to to vm.

the DID is pointed to a phantom extension, which routes to the softphone #.

I setup this way so i can easily reroute the did using speedial 359,(phantom),(pass),#,355

Forwarding path set to 1 as it should be in both the softphone extension and the phantom extension - forwarding set to yes in flags of both as well.

Am I giving enough info?  Anyone have any idea?

You can't forward a forward, as I discovered in this thread:

You can if you use a Call Routing Announcement but this breaks your DDI remote programming.

If you point the DDI directly at the softphone could you not carry out the diversion from there?
