How to connect a portable CD player onto 3330 Mxi
« on: October 05, 2011, 05:18:36 AM »
Hi,

Just new to Mitel and was wondering if anybody can help.

I have 4 Mitel controllers (2 x 3330 2 x 3330 MXi) and was wanting to use a portable cd player for hold music for a client (it’s a particularly long message).

I know there is no port on the 3300's but there is on the Mxi. Is it just a case of connecting the CD player and telling the mitel where it is.

A step by step guide would be amazing if anybody can help.

Gav

Hi Gavin,

You might be better to rip the file off to a wav an upload it to the embedded MOH on each controller.

I dont think you can share MOH over the network.

You can program up the analouge input source for the controller that the cd player will be connected to, your cd player will eventually burn out aswell!

Thanks

Kenny

Yeah I managed to get it down to a workable size but sounds a bit sh*t.

I did wonder about sharing it accross the network but thought maybe as it was hold music and all the devices/agents are on the same controller it only need to be on the one.

I might try some different types of compression to get it on to a wav but still sound OK.

Here's a device that will play from USB memory sticks.

You simply plug in the external source and a little programming will set it up for you. Use the help in the controller for external moh and it will walk you through the programming. On devices without external source capability you will have to get it down to embedded or use a 3rd party solution that uses trunking. If you have them professionally redone then the embedded one will sound better then trying to trim it down for most people. And yes I am one of those people.
