802.1X Help
« on: January 07, 2009, 12:49:32 PM »
Hello,

We have just started to setup a 3300 ICP MXe with 5330 phones. We are using HP Procurve 5406 switches. Prior to setting up the 3300 we already used 802.1X authentication to keep guests off our corporate network and works great. We are using PEAP with MSCHAPv2. I was able to create a test account and when the phone prompted for a username/password was able to enter it and the phone authenticated no problem. Problem is when I plug a pc into the phone it cannot authenticate anymore and the phone starts to reboot and the message on the phone says port access failure. To troubleshoot I disabled port authentication on the switch port and both the pc can connect together no problem. Problem is when 802.1x is turned on the switch port and I think it is because the phone is hardcoded to do EAP while the PC is using PEAP with MSCHAPv2.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
