inter-tel 8520 on a Mitel SX2000
« on: October 09, 2014, 01:17:43 PM »
Hey all. I am looking for a professional confirmation.   I have a user that was moved to my office in our company.  We have a mitel 3300MXe controller connected to a pair of SX2000 Cabinets. The other office has an Inter-tel Axxess Cabinet.   They for some reason do not like the Mitel Supersets 420 or 4025 we have provided.  They insist that we provide them with their old  Inter-tel 550.8520 Digital Key set.  I was under the impression that Inter-tel and Mitel equipment from before the merger was not cross compatible.  Is this the case?

Out of curiosity, are there other PBX phones that do work on Mitel SX2000 DNI Cards?

You are correct, a Mitel DNI set (which is what the 420 and 4025 are) is required to interface with a Mitel DNI line card.

Fantastic.  DNIC is for Mitel Supersets only.

Also, is there a way to get an AXXESS phone to work on an SX2000 ?

No, once again, Mitel DNIC sets are the only sets that work on Mitel DNI cards.

OK, I wasn't sure if Mitel offered a card that was compatible with  Inter-tel 85xx devices or PBX phones.  I know they used to be competitors, but you never know.

4025 is a decent set, maybe get then a used 4150 and they'll be happy?

I absolutely love the 4025,  I have two. I use the green pair for the 2nd one to call people back while on hold with service providers.  I have a 4150 that I thought I would like and went back.   I was curious because I have two 8520's in the back office.   The other sites have axxess cabinets.   I wanted to test them before sending them off-site to one that could use them.   There's a sound of plastic pieces inside.

My boss isn't thrilled with the quality of conference calls lately.   He has a 4025 too.   We tried a mitel 5330 ip set, but he got confused.

I think you need the 4150 with power supply for good conference calls. I myself like the 4025, great styling and functionality.

These are multi point call-in conference calls.  Or, you can't fix someone else's lines.
