Personal ring group/ Dynamic extension.
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:01:22 AM »

Hi, I have just set up a dynamic extension as follows.

Personal ring group 213.   Members 213 and 310

213 is 5330 handset

310 is hot desk user only with external hot desk allowed to mobile number.

Porblem is if I call 213 the 5330 only rings once then the call rings the mobile. They should both ring but I cannot get them to.

I am running MCD 4.2 sp2   10.2.2.??? cant remember but is latest version from Mitel.

Any idea's welcome.   I need both hot desk and 5330 to ring at same time which is what should happen but 5330 only rings once.

If I remove 310 from group and only leave 213 then 213 rings fine. No mail boxes set on anything.

It sounds like to me that the call to the mobile is going out an analog trunk.
When a call goes out an analog trunk there is not answer supervision.
With no answer supervision the call is treated as if the call was answered so all the other phones stop ringing.
External calls will have to go out either SIP or PRI.

Also what are your ring settings on the PRG?

Thanks Ralph, thats exactly what is happening, I was using an analogue trunk for testing as the lines are not yet on the system.

It all makes sense now.

Kudos Ralph - I didn't know of that behavior.  Good to know.

Just a quick update on this, in cot descriptor you will have "fake answer supervison set as yes" If you change this to no all rings ok But you cannot answer mobile call. Changing it back re-produces fault and you can answer call.

In other words dynamic extensions do not work over analogue trunks.
