Ip phone 5340 visual voicemail can't play message
« on: June 12, 2011, 12:14:09 PM »
Hi, anyone know why IP 5340 visual voicemail can't play message? It shows ' message can't play due to an error in the system'. No problem with redirecting, save or discard the message. Only problem it refuse to play.

Only can retrieve voice message manually via dialling the voice mail group (voice guided)

Think I have seen this before are you using a visual voicemail key programmed as a key or via aplications button

Hi bobcheese,

I am using the message button as 'open voicemail application'.

I can login to the voice mail visually, can see voice message deposited by callers, can delete, can redirect, but the only thing is can't press 'play'.

It shows 'can't play message due to a system error'.

At the same time, I have an alarm 'DSP status' which can't be clear even though I rebooted the controller 3300.

Btw, is the alarm 'DSP status' affect the visual voicemail 'play' function?

I would suggest you reslove the DSP problem first. That could cause many problems in your system.

I believe that the embedded VM uses a DSP to play messages.    How many ports of VM do you have?

Agree that you should fix DSP issue before looking at visual vmail issue.

I think I have seen a similar issue on the visual vmail before and had to log in via the applications key to listen to messages. Give this a try when you have a moment to test.

Also out of interest what version of sw are you running?

I open up my 3300 controller cover and found no DSP module installed inside. Do I need to install one? what difference between DSP or DSP2?

Surprisingly, when I first use visual voicemail to play message, it works. After a few hours, it start to give this problem of can't play voice message.

Playing or listening to VOICE-guided voicemail no problem if I lift up my handset or use handsfree to dial the voice mail hunt group.

I will check my ICP 3300 software version & get back to you all.

I would bet your DSP alarm is caused by having compression licenses with not enough DSP resources.

Can you post your license options without the sysid or application record for privacy reasons.

If you can call VM from an IP phone your DSP's are working now that's not to say you don't have a bad channel or intermittent one.

Yes, the license option state I got 8 unit of MCD E2T/GW compression license. What is compression license for?

How to solve this problem? Because of DSP resource limited?

Please help?

Compression is to use the g729 codec between 3300's or SIP provider.
If you bought licenses for compression then you'll need to add a DSP module.

If the system don't use any compression facility, is it alright to leave the 'DSP status' alarm alone?

I agree it could be DSP resource limited because it use 'embedded DSP' and compression license need additional DSP module.

Shouldn't be a problem to just ignore the alarm except for the alarm is always active.

I found out that 2 external and 1 internal conference can't work. The first external call can't be included in the conference.

Only 2 internal and 1 external conference can work.

Is this because of the 'DSP status' alarm on resource failed?
