Remove PNID From Clustered System

Is there any way to remove a primary node ID from a clustered system? Or do you have to remove the system from the cluster, remove the PNI and then readd the system to the cluster?

PNI can be removed from cluster configuration with no impact as long as is only one cluster, PNI is only used for communication between separate clusters.
I had this issue a long time ago on a big network and removing PNI had no impact
