5330s picking up OLD IP address from 3300
« on: February 26, 2024, 03:15:57 PM »
I have a strange issue coming upon the 5330s I have connected to a secondhand 3300. After they have been plugged in for a while, they switch to "connecting to server" and it is trying to connect to the IP address previously assigned to the 3300 (172.x.x.x) instead of the current address (192.168.1.6). I can't find any reference to the old address anywhere in the admin tool, and it happens no matter if I have the phones connect via DHCP or if I configure the IP settings manually. Note that the phone will in fact connect to the system correctly when I plug it in, but after a short time (not sure exactly how long) it fails back to the "connecting to server" and the old address.

Is there some place where these addresses may be hiding somewhere? Note that I am using an external DHCP server and the 3300's DHCP is disabled.

Thanks!
-Rick

Do you have both IP's in Option 43 or 125 in your external DHCP Server config? Also is there a Secondary Element configured for the phones? It almost sounds like the new 3300 has another system in Network Elements.

I double checked in Network Elements and there is only the one system in it, and it has the correct IP address in it.

Check Trunk > IP/XNET > ICP/PBX Networking

There could be the old IP in the IP Networking tab of that form.

I think that was it! I found an old entry in there, deleted it and when I get home I will reset the phone and see if it still is failing after a while. Thanks!

Well, it still is failing back to the other IP address, is this a case where I need to clear the info from the phone itself too? I'll try that when I have more time to tinker this weekend. This is a home-lab system and will eventually be connected to the retro-phone CNet network

The phones will all need to be rebooted... They get this information at boot if I recall correctly.
