recording phones with cordless handsets
« on: May 11, 2023, 08:59:10 AM »
We are a county sheriff department and a while ago we changed Telcos for outside lines and maintenance.

Our trunks are now SIP and the recording solution that we use is Eventide and prior to the SIP trunks it recorded all calls flawlessly, but apparently no amount of work or tinkering they do can get the recordings to work with SIP.

Until we find a permanent solution that works with SIP, we want to go back to the older, analog solution to record only a few critical phones and part of those phones are 5940s and 6940s, all with cordless handset.

The recording solution we used was analog and recorded traffic through the handsets. Can it be plugged into the handset jack in the back of the phone and be used concurrently with the cordless handsets?

I don't think that's an option.
You're probably going to need to use a MBG server. (I'm forgetting the exact feature name at the moment.)  They're designed to work with recording servers so that you can record the necessary stations.

Thanks...

I forgot about that option...and yeah, I've used those in the past on MiVO systems before I retired from our ILEC. (I can't recall the name either)

SRC connector on the MBG will allow recording at the set level and the sets will need to go in Teleworker mode to the SRC. I think it can be done a the trunk level too but am not familiar with that one as much.

I have made loop back analog extensions to trunk port for this in the past, might be an option as to how to route this number

What about using the embedded VM and record a call feature then forward the recordings?
