Adding a desk phone to a softphone only user
« on: August 30, 2022, 05:15:11 PM »
Hello all,

I've been struggling to get this set up and working correctly. When our 3300 was set up, most of our users were set up as a "softphone only" user. We are adding a desk phone for some of our users. I can't seem to get the desk phone to work properly when there is a softphone still on the extension. Currently, I have one set up on my line. I can call out from the desk phone but cannot receive calls on it. My softphone still works without issue. Is there a good way to add a desk phone to a line without deleting and recreating the entire extension? I appreciate any help I can get.

We have the UCC standard user. All of our users have that license.

When you added the desk phone, did you create them with a service level of Multi-Device, and add the desk phone extension to the existing Multi-Device User Group for the user?

I have tried both full and multi-device. When I have the desk phone set as multi-device, the phone displays locked and is unusable.

Make sure you have a pilot number in Multi-Device User Groups and the device type is correct (ie 5320e instead of 5320).

If you want to keep the same extension number you need to delete the softphone first.
If not :
Softphone extension : 1111
If the current license is full you will not be able to change it to multidevices but this is not an issue for now.

On Micollab, add a new deskphone extension 2222 multidevices license type.
On Mivb side, multidevice group, create the pilot number 2222 then add the softphone 1111.
On micollab side the 1111full license will move automatically to multidevice.
Now in micollab service, choose 2222 as deskphone and 1111 as softphone.

According the micollab client state (in office) ring my group, you can make ringing both extensions. But you only by calling the pilot number 2222

You need to konw that it's not possible to call separately deskphone and softphone for the same user. You need to call a pilot number, usually we create deskphone 1111 ans softphone 1*111 but you can call only use 1111

If you want to call separately, you need to create a second user with a different extension but you will lost many multidevices or full licenses so this is not the best practice
