Hunt Group callers cutting off
« on: April 23, 2021, 06:40:24 AM »
Hi
We have a couple of Doctors surgeries that are having the same problem, now this only seems to happen when they are very busy, callers ring into an AA & choose the option for appointments they are then queued & get the (you are number x in the ) they can sit there for quite a while as they are busy, what happens then is that when the caller gets to number 1 it just drops the call, we have done wireshark traces & it is the system that's dropping the call..
Does anyone have any ideas as it's driving me mad..

Is the call really dropped, or is there just silence?

There are several reasons for audio to be dropped, including MOH settings, busy VM ports, or even carrier issues. I had an issue where SIP trunks would drop MOH after several minutes, and everyone thought the call was dropped.

Thinking about it some more, I would eliminate all Announcement and Overflow greetings. Voice mail ports are a valuable resource, and needlessly wasting them for RADs in a busy system doesn’t make a lot of sense. Additionally, make sure that AA greetings are as short as possible.

Busy voice mail ports can cause routing issues. I’m constantly battling with folks who want to use announcements instead of MOH.

iand1957,

What is the cause code for the dropped call within the SIP Messages?

Thanks,

TE

From experience I would recommend using a MOH track with comfort messages included in the track rather than using CRA's for busy systems.
