Mitel 5224 handset - linking to computer
« on: October 02, 2020, 07:46:01 AM »
Hi,

Im at a loose end trying to configure a mitel 5224 handset so i can connect a pc to use the same link for both voice and internet. my network has several vlans one being for voice and one being default for general internet etc.
I have set default to untagged and the voice vlan to tagged but then my phone can't get a ip. I have tried to set the vlan ID in the phone and that just gives me a tftperr.
Any ideas of what im doing wrong?

Thanks

What network switch are you connecting to? You need to have either LLDP-MED or CDP enabled to be able to tell the phone to switch to the voice VLAN.

This can pretty easily be handled with DHCP as well... Add an option 43 with proper VLAN tags, phones will get an IP in the native VLAN, then release it, hop to the defined VLAN and DHCP again.

(note it says it's for the 3300, but the same rules apply for Mitel 5xxx sets on MiVO250)
