Press Message Waiting to retrieve message
« on: July 21, 2020, 02:44:28 PM »
Hello:

Looking to just press the Message waiting button only to retrieve messages.

If I press the Speakerphone + message, it works.  Pickup handset, it works.  What I am looking to do is just press the flashing message waiting button, have the phone go on speaker phone automatically and go into voicemail.

Depending on the phone model pressing the message waiting key from a idle state brings up some information on the screen and one of the options there is to call VM.

In short, you aren't going to be able to do what you are asking. You will need to pickup the phone or press speakerphone first  or press the Call VM button after pressing the Message Waiting key from idle.

AndyDansby,

What you want is a DSS/BLF key for your Voice Mail Application extension.

The Message Notification button is just a Message Notification button and is used for more than just Voice Mail messages.

Thanks,

Steven

You can use a button programed as a Station Speed Dial with a dial string of “[V-Mail ext number]*[Ext number][password]#1 (for example, if the voice mail is ext 276, the extension is 104, and the password is 1234 then the dial string would be “276*1041234#1”  that would give you one button dialing into the mailbox and start playing the first message.

Of coarse, you can leave off the password, the #, and the 1 if you want to be secure.
