Mitel 5312 running SIP
« on: March 05, 2020, 10:21:23 PM »
So first I have been a Mitel tech for 20 years. I have a variety of Mitel phones at home running on my Asterisk System. I just upgraded a 5312 to 06.05.00.08 and now when I web into it I only have the Quick Start menu, I have a 5330e running 06.05.00.08 and have all the options available, is there something weird about the newer firmware on the 5312 sets?

I think it needs to talk to a tftp server with the sip files. That's what I had to do with my 5330 after I backed it up and changed to Minet to use it for testing. Once it saw the tftp and downloaded what it wanted, the full access page was available and it restored it from my sip set backup

That is what I did and now only have the Quick User setup page.

From what I can tell I have all the necessary files in my TFTP folder, unless someone has something better they could share, I had downloaded everything from Mitel several years ago, it appears they have removed everything from their site now, or have it well hidden.

Mitel doesn't officially support SIP on the MiNET devices any longer... and it hasn't for over 10 years. Most Mitel systems include basic SIP firmware for 52xx/53xx devices only because there are some Mitel sites that still have SIP Mitel phones, but there is no longer support for other/generic devices any longer. My guess is that somewhere along the way the rest of the portal just passed into oblivion.

Could be totally wrong, but I do know SIP support for MiNet devices to non-Mitel equipment was stopped officially about 2010... knowing Mitel if likely worked for some time after that but who knows.

Tried that and still don't get the full log in so it's going in the trash I guess and I'll try another one

I just tried this with a 5312 I have sitting around. Factory defaulted this 4.X phone and set teleworker to point to my tftp. I upgraded to Minet version, changed to sip and added static values. I logged in and saw full config page.

So to try something different I took it to my office and let it download from out Mitel 250, it installed 06.04.00.10 on the phone, but I still do not get a full configuration page, so I am not sure what is going on at this point, as a side note I took a 5324 I had also and connected to the 250 and it did the same upgrade and works fine, now I am puzzled.

When I have seen it come up to the quick set up screen, all I have had to do is pit the tftp and sip info in and after reboot all is good

Ok but it doesn't give me access for button programing or anything else like my other sets do.

So I tried again this evening from one of the TFTP servers in another post and it appears to have worked this time! Hurray!
