Verizon SIP Trunks
« on: November 26, 2019, 09:05:26 AM »
I have to configure Verizon SIP Trunks for a site and they have given me two IP's, one for signaling and one for media.

Usually I get one IP from a Vendor and not two.

There are no recent SIP COE Docs for Verizon,  apparently Verizon and Mitel have not certified in about 5 years.

Has anyone configured a recent Verizon trunk with two IP's.

A few of the providers we utilize typically offer a signaling IP and then 2 media IPs. The configuration won't change much if any. Are you utilizing a MBG? The signaling IPs is where you need to allow most UDP ports in and out. The signaling will typically just be 5060 or another single port.

Yes I am using a MBG.    When you add the Network Element I can only put in 1 IP so I guess that would be the signalling IP.

Yeah - just make sure that firewall is configured to allow UDP traffic from and to the media IPs and the MBG

edit as my original post up top was slightly incorrect - signaling IP is will typically only need a single port open, commonly 5060 while the media IP is where audio is sent/recieved and thus about all the UDP ports 1024 thru 65535 theoretically
