Send SMS through 3300

Hello, New to Mitel world.
Wondering if it is possible to configure 3300 as a SMS receiver?
We would like to have our employees be able to text "sick day" to a number on our system that will then get delivered to manager's email or mobile phone.
Is this possible?

No the 3300 won't do that. You would need other advanced apps to do it.

Something MiCC (Mitel Contact Centre) with twilio.

If your 3300 has an attached MAS or MIC server you can send a message between apps to your HR or similar to inform about a sick day or anything else
