6900 phones on 250
« on: December 17, 2018, 10:41:11 AM »
We have done one installation with 6900 phones which had massive issues with voice delay on answering a call. They are all 6940 phones and the delay was between 4-6 seconds. We are about to change it out for a MiVoice Business as it is not a workable solution.

I have spoken with some other dealers who have taken the decision not to install this combination at all due to all the issues but I haven't seen any posts related to this or much since June/July time. Are other still experiencing issues with 6900 phones on the 250?

I have only done one 69xx install so far about 3 months ago.
They had less than 20 phones and were a mix of analog and SIP trunks.  Customer did not want to go full SIP trunks until he tested them out for a while.
No complaints about audio delays from them and they got rid of their analog trunks because the SIP was working well for them.

We still are not installing 6900 series with Mitel 5000's... And likely will not as long as the Phone Manager Server is required. I have some tech friends who work for other companies I have known for some time, they have done several and the stories are not good.

We are either doing 5300 series phones, digital phones, or moving customers to MiVB... Or in many cases, just putting them on our hosted platform.

I still don't understand how Mitel can make such a mess out of MiNet phones that run fine on the MiVB but fail so miserably on the 5000. There are working MiNet phone on the 5000, I still don't get the problem, even if the system capacities had to be reduced somewhat or a external CP server used, but the way are doing it now is pushing people away.

The conspiracy theorist in me things it's by design to force the 5000 out of service... After Mitel saw what happened with SX-200 ICP and that they just could not kill it without a huge uproar from customers, they are finding another way perhaps?

Having rolled out 3 larger 250 installations with 6900 handsets the few problems/bugs I came across were fixed in the first service packs for the MCS server and the 250.

All working fine with no issues reported for a good few months now.

With larger customers there is justification in installing a MiVO-AS server.

With the smaller clients they don't want to pay the extra to have a dedicated machine, they normally don't have virtualization either.

We did one install with 6900 phones, and had to remove them. a lot of simple features did not work. That phone model is not ready for the 250!

6900 aren't fully compatible with 250, lost a lot of features so i wouldn't even bother in all honesty, stick with the original phones.

I'm not familiar with the 250, only the 3300. The 69xx phones work fine on the 3300, however they lack some features still compared to the 53xx. At the same time we can't continue to buy 53xx as accessories are discontinued, for example DECT handsets and headsets. These accessories need regular replacement.

I have no problem with Mitel discontinuing old phones but they should have done a better work at introducing the new ones, for sure.

I’ve done 3 installs with 6900 series phones.  It’s gone fairly well. The biggest issue has been losing the ability to have individual lines on sets...we have set up call park to remedy. However 250 with a PRI or SIP trunks that’s lost anyway and call park must be used.  The feature we need is transfer to hold on 6900 phones
