Call forward - no voice mail
« on: June 28, 2018, 04:52:28 PM »
One of our employees uses Call Forwarding when he is in another office location in a different town. He has two different extension numbers. When he has call forwarding on: There is no voice mail when a customer calls the location where he ISN'T and the call is then transferred to where he IS. (However, he may be on the phone or away from his desk). The customer gets the voice mail if they call where he IS.
Can anyone offer any helpful tips to solve this issue?

Manually forwarded calls will never follow a system forward path. By manually forwarding a phone, you're specifically telling it to ignore system forwarding and do something else instead.

Why not use DEE to twin the phones?

We will look at using the Twin option. We had initially explored that when the system was set up a few years ago. Thank you!

You can set up a hunt group with both phones in a extension list then use a CRA as the recall destination to transfer the call to a specific mail box.

That being said, DEE or “twinning” would be your best option. That is exactly the situation it is designed for.  The two best reasons to use DEE is that the user will keep his existing extension (instead of having to use the hunt group ext), and, as long as your software release is up to date, you can get Message Waiting Indications on both sets!  (I believe this was introduced in 6.0, but not sure).
