6900 handset display
« on: June 14, 2018, 07:20:29 PM »
If you look on this link which describes the handset branding and HTML, there are some pictures of 6900 phones with what appears to be a status displayed - "Gone fishing".

Any idea how this space is used? It is blank on my phones and I don't know how to access this part of the phone display...

you need to upload an image to the 3300.  That form is under  Users and Devices / Advanced Configuration / Phone Applications Update

load up the images with the matching file name "Branding-69XX.png" depending on the model of phone.  this is the background image. the .zip file can hold up to 3 .png files and will show up after the idle timer expires.  the branding image will show up  almost instantly.

ive tested it and as long as its the right size and file type, it will load up. if you dont follow the "safe area" it will cover up some info that the phone displays.  also certain background colors will washout other info.

The branding we've done shows up at the top, same as the picture in the example at that link.
The screensavers we put on take up the whole screen when the phone goes idle.

In the example, there is an additional "Gone Fishing" which is a different-sized area to the area the branding occupies (so I'm fairly sure I can't use branding to put stuff in that spot).
What I was wondering was if this was an actual status, or maybe they've just created a screensaver with a small, well-positioned image and a transparent background?

I would suspect that "Gone Fishing" is just a "set status".  It's been forever since I've messed with that form.  The form name is "Multiline Advisory Messages".

Oh Yeah...  I remember pulling my hair out the first time I came across that.

I remember once, back in the Light days, Mitel shipped a default DB with the statuses already populated.  There was some really offensive stuff in there.  I never heard, but I suspect that someone got fired for it.

It's been a long time ago.  I don't remember exactly what it said.  What I remember is that a group of us techs couldn't believe what what left in there.  We thought the tech who showed us was having some fun until it loaded up on another switch.  I think it was a comment of a sexual nature.

I have seen people name their user speedcalls with impressively well thought out phallic emoticons of various lengths.
