Multiple phones "Out of service" - Cxi connected to Cisco 3560
« on: October 03, 2010, 11:14:14 PM »
I have a 3300 Cxi controller that has been running just fine since March 19th of this year, running Software Version 7.0.21.7, with Call Control Relink: 37.0.9.14_SP1.

This past Saturday morning @ 9:11am, a bunch of phones, connected to two different Cisco 3560 switches quit working. I received a trouble call of "no dial tone, can't call out", which is how I knew about it. When connected into the PBX, I discovered that a bunch of phones were listed as "Out of Service".

I shut down the PoE ports on the Cisco switches, the phones rebooted, and they all came back up.

What would cause this?

FYI, Cisco 3560 version is "Cisco IOS Software, C3560 Software (C3560-IPSERVICES-M), Version 12.2(46)SE". We've been running rock solid on this IOS for possibly over a year.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Impossible to say what caused it  - however MCD 7 and Cisco 12.2 are both very old - and more prone to bugs and issues than newer versions.  I don't know that we can identify what happened, but I would recommend you consider upgrading your systems....
