NuPoint MWI delays
« on: May 18, 2018, 01:14:00 PM »
We have a standalone NuPoint Voicemail system and three 3300 PBX's. Users on one PBX only are complaining of delays (sometimes in weeks) of their messages. It looks like the MWI doesn't always come on, an when it does, there is often the message that turned it on, and 2-3 much older messages they never heard.

I've done a bunch of searching, and the two suggestions I've come up with are to schedule a daily MWI refresh, or to switch to DTMF. I've scheduled the refresh, which is an improvement, but not seeing a voicemail for most of a day could still be a problem.

For the life of me, I just can't get DTMF to turn a message light on or off.

The FAC is *21 for on and *22 for off. Dialing these manually works just fine.

The business extensions on all 3 PBX's use the NuPoint voicemail.

PBX 1 and 2 are clustered, 3 is not clustered because it's configured for the hotel.

3 is where the complaints are coming from.

The NuPoint is connected to #2.

Here is my config. If anybody can see my miss-step I'd appreciate the heck out of it.

You only have one ICP configured in NuPoint, and only PBX1&2 are clustered... 3 is a stand along unit. How do you expect them to get any msg waiting or messages at all, or am I missing something?

The one that is listed as ICP #1 is where all of the ports for the NuPoint are configured, and the host it does all of it's outbound calling through. The others aren't set up because they're dial-able from #1.

#3 may be a standalone unit, but all of the trunking has been set up so that you still only need a 4-digit extension to dial any number on #3. Also, this is an intermittent problem, so Mitai messages are absolutely getting through just fine a lot of the time.

Right now, I can't get DTMF to turn on the light even for a test extension on ICP#1.

Yay for fresh eyes on a Monday morning.

When I look at PBX 1 or 2, it shows that the setting under System Options for "SUPERSET Callback Message Cancel Timer" is blank. The same setting on the hotel PBX is set to 24, which would cause message waiting lights to be blanked out after 24 hours. This may have been the root cause all along.
