Auto Answer For External Calls??
« on: May 29, 2015, 02:59:24 PM »
New Mitel 5000 system less than 2 years old.  The owner likes to have his calls screened.  We have two options:

1)  Place call on hold, intercom owner (which will auto answer to hands free on his end), determine whether he wants the call through intercom. If yes, have owner hang up, transfer call to his extension for him to pick up.  Problem is he often disconnects the call in this process as he uses hands free headset or handset.
2)  Use transfer announce which works great because the owner just stays on the line and the call is connected after being announced if he wants the call.  However, when using transfer, the owners extension will NOT auto answer to hands free on his end which is where the hang up is.

Any suggestions on this issue?  Is there anyway to do autoconnect/hands free when using transfer??

Thank you very much for any suggestions or help on this!

darwinalderson,

Wow, I don't think I have ever seen two almost identical issues on the same day. The issue you are running into is with a System Flag, not a Station Flag, and you may or may not have access to it if your vendor doesn't allow your credentials to access it. Here is the help file associated with the feature in question.

System Flag - Handsfree Announce On System Forward Transfer

This is located in System\Flags.

When a phone user transfers a call to the principal phone of a forwarding path, this option determines what the caller will hear. If enabled (yes), the caller will place a handsfree call to the principal phone and can announce the transfer (the call does not enter the forwarding path). If the option is disabled, the transferring phone user will hear ringing and can announce the call only if it is answered by the principal phone or one of the forwarding points. This defaults to no.

Thanks,

TE
