Hunt Group Visual Voicemail
« on: March 09, 2018, 04:55:30 AM »
Hi all,

I am looking for some help about using visual voicemail with an hunt group voicemail.
I am working on a MXe-III with MIVB 8.0 SP3 PR1 (14.0.3.22) and embedded voicemail.
I already looked with Google and many forum but unsuccesfully ...

I have an hunt group (DN 7021) which have a voicemail.
In this hunt group there is only one member (DN 3001) with a 6940 IP Phone.
Is there a way to allow this member (DN 3001) to use visual voicemail to access 7021 hunt group voicemail ?

If anyone can help, i hope it is here.

Best regards

When you say 'visual voicemail' do you mean a flashing message waiting indication on a button?  Visual Voicemail is actually a different feature on the larger display phones which allows you to see and playback messages without dialling into your voicemail and selecting the relevant options.

Are we talking about embedded VM or Nupoint on MiCollab?

1st option and easiest, link the MiVB or MiCollab to an email server and set up email notification on the mailbox.

2nd option.  Change the reroute 1st alternative on your original hunt group so that on no answer it will go to someone else's mailbox which is already linked to a phone.  Set up a hunt group name tag *mailbox number e.g. *3001, and reroute always to voicemail.  When you dial this new name tag hunt group it will go straight to the mailbox.  Then point your existing hunt group to this new number on no answer.

3rd and most difficult option, same method as option 2 but this time diverting your original hunt group to a to a multicall key, which is always forwarded to voicemail with a linked  mailbox and message waiting indicator button.  Set up multicall key 8021 (as 7021 is already in use as your hunt group number).  This button can go on anyone's phone (or even a phone that is not logged in / used) on a key that doesn't even physically exist (e.g. Key 70 on ext 3001).  It won't ever ring but you just need to set 1 key up for the directory number.  Now reroute the multicall key always to the voicemail hunt group.  Create mailbox 8021 and put 8021 as the extension number.  Now set up your message waiting indicator buttons on all of your phones against DN 8021.  Now forward your existing hunt group to his new number on no answer.  When a message is left on 8021 is will light the linked message waiting indicator on all of the phones.

Hi JasonTaylor,

Thank you for your answer.

We are talking about Visual Voicemail feature that allows to see and playback messages from the phone's screen without dialing the voicemail.
There no Nupoint, it is an embedded voicemail.

The voicemail of the Hunt Group is configured with message notification type "extension" and number "3001" which is the only group member.
Message indication is working fine as the light flash when there is a message on the voicemail.
3001 cannot see and playback message from the visual voicemail (No connection).

I think this feature will only allow you to access your own mailbox, I just looked on my phone and it doesn't allow me to change the mailbox number and only prompts for the passcode.

I'm not sure if this applies in your situation, but on my 5340/3300/NuPoint I have a "Connect as Guest..." option in visual voicemail that appears to allow me to connect to any voicemail box. I just tested with a box other than my own and it seems to work. I doubt the MWI would work on that guest box, but I can see the messages there.
Hope that's helpful,
-dg

Hi.
I believe we're running mcd7.2 (I never know how to answer this question...)
On my 5330e or 5340e I hit menu key > voicemail, then at the top it says
Mailbox xxx
Passcode:
----------------------------
Login
Backspace
Clear
Close
----------------------------
Connect as Guest...
(x)Remember my passcode

The connect as guest button lets me choose a mailbox number other than my own.
Hope that helps.

Hi dg.

I do not have this option on my phone.
I will try with 5330 IP Phone.
