Specific DHCP Options for 6900 Series?

<< < (2/3) > >>

Dogbreath:
My experience with 69xx is that they didn't work without option 43, despite the documents I read specifically saying that 125 and 43 would work. So on the same network, 53xx boot up and connect fine but 69xx didn't!

Tech Electronics:
Guys,

I have had all of mine working to date with option 125 without fail. The only issue I have had with 69xx series phones was with the TFTP not have an older version of firmware to upgrade the phones. Apparently if it is too low on firmware it will not upgrade properly and the phone will reboot constantly after it has be reset once.

Thanks,

TE

We just installed one new 6940 today and we had the same issue, the problem was that switch where the phone was connected to did not support LLDP-MED and the phone got an IP from the default VLAN where the OPTION 125 was not configured. Solution was to set the voice VLAN manually on the phone.

Tech Electronics:
petr.necas,

Yes, LLDP-MED/CDP are pretty much required for seamless use, but you could also try using a DHCP Helper Address or what some call an IP Helper Address on that VLAN for when it send out its BootP request for DHCP it get directed to the correct DHCP server.

Thanks,

TE

biggie:
Check the IP/XNET Trunk form has a valid IP address for the local controller also, apparently the 69xx series look at this address when registering to the controller also.
