Specific DHCP Options for 6900 Series?
PhoneSlayer:
Hello,
I'm working on a new install and they've got a mix of 5320e, 6920, and 6940 phones. The 5320s boot fine. The 6900 Series phones either stick on 40% Waiting for DHCP or 90% Contacting Call Svr 0.0.0.0
When I provide a static address for the Call Server the 6900 phones will come up, but this is not ideal and I would like DHCP to do the job for me.
I read that the 6900s support Options 125 and 43. Is this a both or an either/or type scenario?
These are my current DHCP Options:
3 Router
125 Mitel
128 TFTP Server
129 Call Server
130 IP Phone Identifier
134 DSCP
Thanks in advance!

PhoneSlayer,
The 69xx series phones support option 125 which is the same as option 43 so you don't need both; it is recommended to use option 125.
Here is a basic option 125:
125=id:ipphone.mitel.com;sw_tftp=x.x.x.x;call_srv=x.x.x.x;l2p=6s3m4v6;vlan={VLAN ID};dscp=46s24m34v46
sw_tftp=TFTP Server IP Address <-usually the same as the call_srv
call_srv=Phone System IP Address
l2p=Switches Layer 2 Priority typically 6 for non-Cisco switches and 5 for Cisco type switches
dscp=Differential Services Code Point [Layer 3] is always 46 or their equivalent of Expedited Forwarding.
Thanks,
TE

What firmware do the 6900 phones currently have on them, and what brand of switch are they plugged in to?
VinceWhirlwind:
What software version is the MCD?
Do your switches advertise the Voice VLAN via LLDP? Or do you have Option43 set on both the Data as well as the Voice VLANs?
eugenej:
what DHCP server are you using? I assume this is a MiVB installation
like TE said you can use either 43 or 125 on the 69xx phones and 125 on the 53xx phones
Are you using multiple VLANS or flat network?
