Q: How to use TA7102 as an Alternate Recording Source
« on: July 14, 2017, 10:27:33 AM »
Now that I've finally gotten my TA7102 analog ports working, I'd like to figure out how to use it as an alternate recording source for MOH with ACD express groups.

Has anyone done this?

Ralph

I've got it working.
I was fighting through a one way audio issue that turned out to a PEBCAK problem.

Nope.  Fell on my butt on this one.
I had it working ~once~ and now I can't get it working again.
Can't find anything in help files about COS for Alternate Recording Devices.
There's almost not info at all.
Knowledge base is pretty useless.

This hasn't been as much fun as I would have hoped.
Here's what I'm trying to ultimately accomplish:
Using a vMCD, connect an external MOH source.  (The source is actually required to be a TV)

I've found that the AT7102 doesn't appear to be an option.  The reason is because it needs to auto answer when the vMCD calls it to set up the media stream.  If I connect T&R the device is off hook and can't be called.  If I use my butt set and go off hook when it calls it works.   I just have no way to replicate going off hook when the TV is connected.

Mitel sales engineering had no clue.  They suggested I call Earthbend.   I called them and described the requirements to five different people and no one has any idea.

I am wondering if an IP Page adapter with talk back functionality would work.

If anyone has any ideas, please throw them out there.

Ralph,

This may be a little unorthodox, but what about using a doorbox. A doorbox will auto answer and connect to a speaker when called so that should work for your solution. In this case you would remove the speaker and connect to the TV audio.

I think that would be your cheapest solution.

Thanks,

TE

That hadn't crossed my mind.
I looked at page units with talkback but not door boxes.
I'd have to break it and rewire it.
Do you have any model suggestions?  It would have to be VoIP.

Ralph,

We use Algo Paging units and I know they have a doorbox as well, but I have never used it.

Give that a look and see if that meets your requirements. I would probably call them and see if it would work for your scenario; they may even have another solution for you as well.

Thanks,

TE

Ralph,

I just looked at Valcom and they have SIP Doorboxes as well.

It can't hurt to have more than one option to look at.

Thanks,

TE
