Setting up SIP, but first TFTP...
« on: August 05, 2016, 03:03:17 AM »
Hi Guys,

I've been reading through some of the threads here and you guys seem like a friendly bunch, so I would like to ask a hand.

I've gotten a hold of Mitel 5360 (Main: 3.0.2.5 Boot: 3.0.2.5) and put it into SIP mode after a factory reset.

I get the  message "SIP not available. Install newer", which apparently means I need to update the firmware.

I tried setting a static address on the phone to my laptop running a TFTP server.
When I enter TFTP update mode, I get "L2&Boot Err."

I have looked this up and it looks like it's a DHCP error.

Can anyone suggest a solution or DHCP option I should be applying to get this phone booting in SIP mode?

Thanks in advanced!

easiest thing to do is.
  • put the phone back into minet mode
  • put the phone in teleworker mode(*) and point at some MBG or MCD, you can use mine at 216.191.234.111, if you don't have one
  • reboot phone, it will download and upgrade it's f/w (multiple steps for such a big jump, have patience)
  • after reboot, put back into sip mode, sip and minet s/w is contained in same f/w image.

(*) put a phone in teleworker mode by holding down '7' key when powering up.  Follow the directions to enter the mbg ip address. After upgrade, disable teleworker mode with same process, use the "delete" command.

You do not need the TW Password to have the FW upgrade.

Good day..is there a more recent version of the SIP firmware than 6.0.x available to download? I am running SIP 6.0.x on a 5330 registered to a 3CX server with basic all features..the next challenge is being able to configure the 5330 keys..combination of installing more recent SIP firmware and building out .xml config file....tks

Hey everyone,

Big thanks to dilkie for providing the IP to the server, where I've managed to connect to and update firmware on my 5360, but now I see no option to access any web gui or configure the phone? In fact there is a surprisingly small amount of options for the phone at all through the main screen.

Any advice on configuring the sip account after the firmware has been updated as I've tried every resource I can find to no avail.

Many thanks,
