System backup issues
« on: November 01, 2017, 02:33:36 PM »
Since I have switched to a Win10 pc (from win7), the download of the programming db backup fails.  I can do a database backup, but when I select everything, it fails during Voice Data save.
I am preforming the backup through the miVice office 250 System Admin & Diag client.

I had the same problem from time to time. I run as administrator and haven't had it fail but once.

dan231,

What version of SA&D are you running? The latest is 6.2.82.0 and I don't have any issues at all.

Thanks,

TE

dan231,

Don't confuse DB Programming version with SA&D version. The number you gave is your DB Programming version. The SA&D version can be found by going to the ? > About and look at the top prior to Installed Components.

Either way, you do not have the latest SA&D version most likely. All you need is the SA&D version and your DB Version will work with it. Although not all of the features will always work with all versions of Installed Components you shouldn't have that issue.

Thanks,

TE

dan231,

Once your vendor sends that to you then just install it normally and if it asks if you want to installed whatever version of DB Programming came with it then just say no and everything else will be fine.

Personally I have never run into that issue so hopefully this will fix it for you; let us know.

Thanks,

TE

We have had a few Windows 10 machines that have had issues... the fix has been to do a complete uninstall, disable Windows Data Execution Prevention, and reinstall MSA&D (typically the 64-bit version).

I don't know why this fixes it, disabling DEP shouldn't matter for this application, but it seems to. I don't recall having to do this in the last year though, so it might be a version thing.

how long is the voice data backup process typically?

I did what you suggested, I only have the 1 .exe application, so I can't choose 64-bit and the system backup is pretty fast.   It has been running for 22 minutes now

Depends on the size of the recordings (including voice mail messages)... I've seen it take from 20 minutes to over an hour, and it seems to be doing "nothing" at all.

Especially at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon.

dan231,

So, after updating to the latest version it still fails? Did you try the other solutions along with updating it?

Thanks,

TE

I am still unable to get a newer version.  My tech support contact is not getting back to me on that.  I uninstalled and reinstalled as acejavelin suggested.

dan231,

Ah, well when you get the new version just go ahead and install it with or without the new DB Programming version and then give it a shot. If that doesn't work then try acejavelin's advice.

I also always install software as an Administrator so you may want to make sure that is done as well.

thanks,

TE
