2nd line button
« on: April 07, 2017, 08:24:29 AM »
Hi, how can I add a second line button to a Mitel 5320?

At the moment if the line is ringing (individually or part of a group) I cannot make a call until this one is answered or cleared.

Previously on other systems I have had a line 2 button that I can push and make a call even with line 1 ringing.

Thanks in advance.

This has to be done via the system administration web portal of the MCD... you would go to Users & Devices, find your user and extension, go to the Keys tab and add a multicall appearance of yourself (if you want it two way, in and out) or a single line appearance of something like 7XXX where XXX is your real extensions number. This cannot be done from the phone or user portal.

You can obtain a second dial tone when you press the transfer key.  You can use it to do your second call.

Although this is true, it is hardly the optimal way to do it... You are just putting the initial call on consultation hold and one incorrect action and you will transfer the call and that may not be what you are trying to do.

Still, many people don't know they can do this... good info.

This works when you are on a call, and want to quickly call someone else.

If my phone is ringing though, and I do not want to answer it but I want to get another line to make a call out this button answers the ringing call, can I change it to get a line independent of the ringing line? Thanks.

Easiest way is to make key 2 a Multicall of key one (let's say it is extension 1150) and call it Line 2, then make key 3, or any available key, a single line key of 71150 and label it POG (Personal Outgoing). if 71150 isn't available, make it 115*0 or 6*1150 or anything that doesn't conflict with your dialing plan or FAC's , it will never be called so it doesn't matter what the number actually is.

Interesting topic. I'm new to Mitel but have experience of a few competitor platforms and am struggling to fully match our  requirements.
It seems if I create a second key using multicall, this indeed lets me easily manage multiple calls however making a call on the second key does not update my status either on BLF keys elsewhere or on the MiCollab client.
Also in my view, an incoming call to a phone with multiple call appearances keys should not present the call to all keys but should just start with the first free call appearance key.

To enable the BLF to show busy when ever any line is in use on the phone, edit the "System Options" form and enable "BLF - Busy indication based on set"
