3300 with OCR 2007 R2 (RCC or SIP?)
« on: June 18, 2010, 08:37:43 AM »
Hi,

Can sombody help me out? We have a 3300 ICP version 9.0.3.29

As I understand we can use OCS 2007 R2 with Live Business Gateway (LBC).
- Call controle is on the 3300
- Telephony plan has to be 'on' the 3300
 - 3300 has to be upgraded

You can also use SIP
- call controle is within OCS (3300 is just a gateway to our ISDN30 line)
- Telephony plan is within OCS
- LBC can be left out.

I was wondering: do I have to upgrade our 3300 when we use SIP? of can I keep using 9.0.3.29

Best regards,
Walter

There have been so many fixes for SIP going from 9 to 4.0/4.1 you're really going to want to upgrade.
I've spent hours fighting SIP issues that magically went away with 4.0

We're on 4.0 or 4.1 and everything works very well.

We're using direct SIP and an LBG with a mediation server.

With SIP, the mediation server and the LBG you have all of the bells and whistles. Call control is still with the 3300.

If you leave out the LBG I believe your OCS presense will be lost.

We are on 4.0 and we arenot using the LBG. We would like to try it again and see what features it will enable in our environment. I agree about upgrading. I went thru many days where SIP was just not working. Lots of one way audio problems. Now all our outbound is via SIP trunks and I have not had any problems.

So defintely upgrade. Although I did hear some problems with the version right after 4.0 that might have had some problems with SIP. Maybe it was fixed with 4.1.x or something.
