Hot Desking question about keymaps
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:20:42 AM »
System originally set up with 8568 Digital phones as normal users.  Customer now wants all phones converted to Hot Desk extensions.  We know how to do the offline conversion.  When we convert a phone we are prompted to change the extension number.  I assume we need to keep phones originally set up but change the extension number so there are no conflicts.  All phone keymaps are identical.  So when a hot desk user logs in to a phone, does the keymap assigned to the phone take precedence, or do we need to assign Programmable Keys to each Hot Desk Profile?

A hot desk user can have different USER PROGRAMMABLE KEY values, but the keys themselves are programmed for the physical device.  So if you and I need different button at the top I'd program that to be, say, UPK 23.  Then in our user profiles we would have different functions assigned as UPK 23.

If all your keymaps are the same, you don’t need to use programmable keys. The phone keymap will work just fine.
