Free alarm monitoring for Mitel 3300

Hi Guys,

I have seen some guys looking for a simple way to monitor the alarm state on a Mitel 3300 PBX so I thought I would share this site with you. It is quite a simple setup on any Windows PC or server and an online website that hosts the results.

Saw that posted elsewhere, there has also be some discussion about the SimpleSMDR here. I need to look more into that myself. Really would like to install it MSL though.

Ah, so the preferred option would be to have the local app running on the MSL instead of a Windows server? I can probably get that done as well. Will post here if I do but keep checking the website for updates as well ok?

I haven't done anything with SimpleSMDR in years, didn't realise anyone was using it as I got little feedback recently. Maybe I should go back and refresh it a bit as well.

Also maybe running it on a SME server wouldn't be bad either. IMHO

Tried to get simple smdr running a few times (maybe 5 or six) but failed miserably even following the instructions to what I thought were the letter; so i gave up.

johnp, my thought process here was that everyone has a Windows server (as much as we may hate them) so the windows app would make it easier for the average office to make use of SimpleAlarm. I could have a look at getting it working on SME server at some time.

x-man, what problems did you have with SimpleSMDR? Maybe I could help you get it running.

I could never get the network card to work in the VM IIRC. Even following your comprehensive instructions.

I may create a new VM soon that you could have a try with instead. Keep an eye on the website for updates as not sure when I will get to it as kinda focused on the SimpleAlarm right now.

I will have to redevelop the app to work on MSL as perl is not fully available. Will see what I can do as a bash script option but I don't think it is going to be possible as those scripts are limited.

What about SME? I know it has mod_perl

Thanks  It is the most similar distro to MSL. I would think putting it in an ibay that has public access would be the way to go.

Do you have any experience in installing perl modules in SME? I tried using cpan as I would typically do in other distros but for some reason that is not working in SME.
