Paging Issue - audio on only half the speakers
« on: April 16, 2015, 12:14:47 AM »
Recently fork lifted an old NEC system out and replaced it with a 5000.  The NEC system had the paging all setup using its external page port so I connected the 5000 the same way using an 3.5mm adapter (Mono).  Now they only have paging on one side of the building.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

My guess is that the NEC was a stereo connection and the reason only half the speakers are working is because the 5000 is Mono.   If this is the case would it change things if I moved the paging from the Page Port to a Trunk port?

Hershel,

Have you tried just putting a tone on the input to see if the other speakers get the signal? I don't see how having a stereo output would make a difference if the input is not so it most likely wouldn't make a difference; other than the volume being louder. It could be that they had a second page output, maybe through a trunk, and that was hooked up to the other speakers or possibly a zone controller if their page port allowed for DTMF.

Thanks,

TE
