Mitel 3300 - Auto Attendant Issue
« on: August 01, 2014, 01:41:36 PM »
Hello all,

I'm having problems to understand and set up the Auto Attendant on this box.

I was able to successfully create the VM boxes with Menu Modes, Transfer etc.

The problem I am facing is that I can't figure out how I can reach the Auto Attendant, besides dialing the VM pilot and pressing "*".
I can only get the greeting doing this, so I don't know how I can reach the AA directly from internal phones and aftewards from all inbound calls to the company.

I went through the help docs and the Workbooks but they only tell me how to setup the Call tree, but not how to reach it directly afterwards.

Thanks in advance.

You need to have a number that is forwarded directly to VM for this to work.
We generally call this a "phantom" number.

To create a phantom number, create an extension with the same number as your call tree box.
In the call rerouting always form create an alternative that routes to voice mail.  (usually 2)
Assign this number to your new extension under the 3 Always Alternative fields.
Then it should work.

This will use a user license but you can simply add buttons to that phone if you need any more phantom numbers.

You can also accomplish the same thing by creating a hunt group with the same number as your call tree.
This works well if you don't have to create a lot of them.

Hello Ralph.

Thanks for your help, I was able to move forward but got another issue.

I tried both methods (extension and Hunt Group), now I am reaching the Greeting, but I'm unable to select the options.
I double checked and the VMbox is set as Menu Mode and I configured the Menu Options as well.

It is like it is ignoring the options selection/DTMF.

Still working on it.

Thanks again.

Hello again,

I figured out here what was my problem.
When I was trying things before I set up de VM Pillot to RAD, that's why it wasn't accepting digits I guess.

I've changed it back to Voicemail and now it is working as expected.

Thank you very much!

If you don't want to use a licence just add a key to an existing phone for the DDI as a multicall and route this the same way. If you don't need any more phantom numbers.

Hello again,

I got something else that I still didn't find if it is possible to achieve here.

When I get to the final option where the call gets transferred I get a system message "Your call will be transfered to extension XXXX" and it says the Mailbox number.

I wonder if we have a way to supress this message and make the call connect right after the option is selected, is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, what I did in this case was to record a greeting and/or a name that said "One moment please".

Hello again, was away for a while..

From what I understood, I'd record this audio "one moment please" and upload it as the greeting for the Mailboxes that I configured as "Transfer Only", is that correct?
I've tried that but got no sucess, I aways the the "..transfering you to extension xxxx.." and I do not get the audio I uploaded.

Also tried going with "Unsupervised transfer" but still got the same message.

Is there a different place that I should upload this audio to?

Thanks.

What you need to do is access the Transfer Only mailbox, just like its any other mailbox who's message or greeting you'd want to change. Because you'd never have set this up before, it will walk you through recording the "name" of the mailbox. Say the department or sub-menu that the transfer-only mailbox routes to. This way the system will say "transfering you to {department name in your voice}"

Thanks bluewhite4.

I'd still prefer just getting transferred, but this is a nice solution. Tested here and it worked fine.
