Analog trunk blocked after trunk to trunk
« on: December 26, 2012, 11:00:54 PM »
I have a 3300 MxeIII with MCD5.0 and I have 10 analog trunks connected on it. The problem is sometimes the LS get blocked. I can unblocked or disconnect them manually from the command busy and rts.
The user insisted that transfer trunk to trunk feature. So, we can't disable the trunk to trunk feature on the system. How can be fixed this problem?

Does anybody know how to fix it?

Do you mean you can't disable it for a reason?

Most often this problem is caused by a mismatch in the disconnect clear time of the trunk being different to the disconnect clear time set on the Mitel. You need to check the timer in the Trunk Circuit Descriptor form (usually set to 500msec by default) and set it to  that provided by the trunk itself.

As X-man suggest, the problem is most likely in the Circ descriptor disconnect timer.
You can test by using a cell, calling either out to the cell or in from the cell, have the cell hang up but stay on the line inside.
If it's working properly the Mitel phone should eventually hang up.
Adjust the disconnect timer down until it does.

Be warned if these are lines coming off of an ATA of some kind (SIP, Cable, or other proprietary device) that some of these do not return a disconnect signal at all, or it is so short the Mitel cannot get it. I have run into this before with some of the local cable companies older ATA's. You can usually put a butt set on the line and "hear" the disconnect, it is typically a disconnecting of battery for a moment a few seconds after the remote end disconnects.

I've been able to test for disconnect by putting an old analog meter (remember those?) as opposed to a digital meter.
The indicator will swing with a disconnect where it happens too fast for a digital meter to catch it.

Yup, always keep one around... Most Sears stores still stocks them for like $10.

I like them to check ring voltage as well, my old Fluke 77-1 just isn't fast enough to accurately measure it.

IIRC there is a setting in the Mitel somehwere for the lines that don't give a battery disconnect and you can set it not to look for a disconnect from the far end and control it from the mitel...but for the life of me I can't remember where or what it is. Maybe its acalling Party disconnect in trunk circuit descriptor

X-Man,
How would the 3300 know how to disconnect a trunk to trunk call if there isn't CO disconnect supervision?

There is supervision its just not a battery disconnect....something to do with silence...but I cant find it so maybe I just imagined it...
