Nupoint SNMP or montoring

We are trying to monitor when the Nupoint UM Gateway goes down (which happens too often).  So far the only consistent indicator seems to be failed connections as shown in the Nupoint web console.  We have not had success in using SNMP, Linux, or other monitoring systems.  We have an NMS, but can't seem to get traps to be sent from the Nupoint server to our NMS machine. 

Has anyone had success in monitoring the UM gateway, and if so, how are you doing it?

Not sure if this helps because we don't have Nupoint, but Uptime Robot http://www.uptimerobot.com/ is a great free tool for monitoring websites.
