Missed SMDR logs !!! Mitel SMDR Call Collector
« on: January 30, 2012, 08:55:43 AM »
Hi Friedns,

today I typed "LOGSYS READ SMDR ALL" but I didn't find any logs before Jan 28,2012 ?!

Does MXeIII overwrite it's logs ???
If it overwites it's buffer, can I extend buffer of MXe for SMDR logs ???
What's your idea for saving SMDR logs cuz it's very important for all companies ??

 Thanks in advance

I think the file holds 20000 records. You can type logs att smdr and it will tell you how large the log file is.

If you want to keep your smdr logs you would need a call accounting package.

In theory, you can use something like Hyperterm to capture the SMDR logs.
Somewhere (maybe somewhere on this forum) someone wrote a perl package that will capture it.
When I get some time I'll poke around to see if I can find it.

But as V2win mentioned, to do it right you need a professional call accounting package.

The OpenSMDR project looks interesting. Has anyone given it a run and seen what it's like?

Just started to load it up on a spare VM that I have running here, but at the moment haven't got too much time to play with it. Looks interesting though.

I gave it a try last year, but it wasn't what we were after. Kinda looked like someone's school project, in all honesty.
I found a company that takes your SMDR data and generates reports and charts, etc - it's web based (just run a small service on a machine or you can get a dedicated device) and log into their website to see. Company is www.tim4biz.com Prices aren't too bad (for our 90 users on one PBX we pay around $40/mth with all reports - they do have free version available, afaik.

I looked around the site.  Didn't see the free version.

One thing I've always wanted to be able to provide my customer is something will will simply collect and store call records.  Most of our customers aren't concerned with full blown call accounting any more but every once in a while I get a request to look up "who called xxx-xxx-xxxx".

A small collector on an old PC would do that.
