Firstly, apologies for what is probably such an easy question! Please excuse the newb!
We have a MITEL 3300 ICP phone system (running software revision 7 I think?), and for multiple reasons we need to shut it down and disconnect it from the mains for a few minutes. Last time we had an engineer here, he mentioned that there is a proper shutdown command that basically disengages something (the hard drive?) so that there wont be any power surge issues when it is powered back on?
From what I can work out, the procedure is as follows:
Log into the System Administration Tool
Select Maintenance and Diagnostics in the drop down list
Click Maintenance Commands then All
Type 'shutdown' in the Command: textbox
Is that it? Or have I missed out steps/got it totally wrong?
Do I need to wait a certain amount of time before disconnecting the power?
And what about restarting the phone system? Is it a case of plugging it all back in and powering it back up (and waiting for all the startup light sequences to go out? Critical, Major, Minor etc)
Am I right to assume that the database and all the data will still be on there fine, and it will boot up straight away and work as if nothing has happened?
Forgive me for such a simple question, but my username says it all!
Many thanks in advance for any advice given.
