Mitel 5205, router questions.
« on: December 23, 2011, 08:10:26 AM »
Hello Guys,

Need some help if you don't mind,

I have just bought 3 mitel 5205 phones, i am struggling to set them up,
here is where i am at the moment,
I have the ethernet lead from the phone socket into my home netgear router, then i have the 3 phones plugged into the router, i am getting nothing.

Can you help?, and please excuse the ignorance of technical savviness because i have very little.

Many Thanks

Do you have a power supply or inline power for the phone?

What do you mean by 'nothing'/
No IP address?  No lights?  No beer?  No Captain Morgan? :o

From what i've read it doesn't seem that the 5205 is SIP compatible so there has got to be a 3100 or 3300 Telephone system involved somewhere?

Also you need a POE switch or injector for the phones to work, you'll get nothing just plugging them straight into a router.
