Caller ID database

Wondering if there is some sort of way to change the caller ID once the call hits our PBX.

example: many customers call us using their cell phones. our 6940 will show "wireless caller" as the caller ID, which is not very helpful to our sales team.

Is there a place in the programming where I can add the number and name so that instead of "wireless caller" the 3300 will know it is "Customer ABC"?

Not seen that in the UK
But if you want a name to come up then send the incomign number to a hunt group or ring group with a name
Also may need to remove the comment against the trun k attributes of the trunks used

Additional what sunspark writes you have to enabled alpha tagging in system options.

Add a nummer as 0~0xxxxxx and name, when you get a call from that number (if presented by provider) you will see a name.

Sorry for resurrecting an old discussion, but this came up just as we were going into lockdown for covid, and I just now saw the discussion.

Can you clarify what you mean here?

I've enabled alpha tagging as mark.vanderheijden suggested, but I can't figure out where to actually enter the information. My telephone directory won't let me add external numbers, and 0~0xxxxxx isn't a format I'm familiar with using.

Name : compagny xxx
Number : 0~0xxxxxxx

So when campagny xxx call you, you will see the name of the campagny instead of the number only

When I try to create an entry in my telephone directory that begins with 0~0, I get the following error:

The Telephone Number <5558675309> is not known locally. Synchronize Service Hosting and/or Device Level Resiliency.


When I try using 0~05558675309, or 0~08675309, same results.

So, if the name is VeeDubb65, and the phone number is 555-876-5309, then just exactly what do I enter?

Taking a wild guess, I thought maybe your system is configured to use 0 for an outside line. Ours uses 9, so I tried 9~5558675309, 9~95558675309, 9~05558675309, and 9~15558675309. While most of those allowed me to safe the telephone directory entry without error, they don't work. I dial in with my cell phone, and I still don't see a name.

Alpha tagging is enabled, so any other thoughts?

I got it. We have multiple 3300's, and I didn't have alpha tagging enabled on all of them.

We do need 9, so I'm guessing I was right about the outdial number. We have full 10-digit dialing and 10-digit caller ID, so for us 555-867-5309 gets entered as 9~5558675309
