Snom MeetingPoint Conference Phone
« on: March 19, 2020, 03:40:59 AM »
I recently came into possession of a Snom MeetingPoint Conference Phone (see link below for exact details). I got it for free, but was wondering if there is any way to use it with my companies Mitel 5000 system? I can't find anything about this online, so am hoping some of the knowledgeable people here might know :)

josh_marchant,

The possibility is there if you have a SIP device, Category F, license available to support it.

Thanks,

TE

That sounds good to me. I do have category F licences so it should be possible. Are you able to point me in the right direction for setting it up or to a manual of some kind? I've not personally configured a category F device before aside from SIP-DECT phones that already have the base station configured.

Thanks :)

josh_marchant,

I have never heard of SNOM until today so I would have a clue on how to configure that device to work with the MiVO-250 or what features it supports.

I can help you with the setup of the MiVO-250 portion of if you can tell me what version of software you system is using.

Thanks,

TE

I'm using MiVoice Office 250 Database Programming v6.3.7.52 to connect to my Mitel 5000 system. Is there any additional information you need?

Thank you very much :)

josh_marchant,

Nope that is all I need to provide you with a Basic document.

Now, this is a very basic document and a lot more can be changed to make the device work or provide support for other features, but this should get you in the ball park of getting the phone up and working on your system.

Basically you are just creating an extension and then providing credentials to log into it, but there are other locations you can go to in order to make this work better for you. Such as the IP Configurations section and creating a custom Configuration for the SNOM phone; which is what a technician would do.

Thanks,

TE

I'm just trying to follow this through now but can't get the phone to register. I've created a SIP extension and phone group with in and out bound authentication username ("snom") and password set.

Please see screenshots below of the setup details.

We use the SNOM PA1s - here is what I have to set on them to get registrations.

Identity 1
Display Name – extension
Account – extension
Password – whatever we set
Registrar – call processor
SIP Tab
Long SIP-Contact – set to off
Support Broken Registrar – set to on

So its all connected now but when I try to make an external call through it all I get is static noise on the other end and no audio from the Snom phone. It works fine for internal calls.

Any idea why this would be happening?

You can make external calls okay from other devices?
Do you have any other SIP endpoints that make outbound calls?

What is your external access?

External calls are working fine on other IP and digital phones on the system. The only other SIP phones I have are Mitel SIP DECT handsets which to my knowledge have never been able to call externally, not even dialing at all.

What would I need to check to make this work, since I expect it will solve the Snom phone issue too?

What is your external access? SIP, PRI, CO?

Since your other SIP phones don't work it's probably something common. Have you tried dialing out using your trunk group? Commonly 92001 but may be something else. The phones may not have an outbound extension assigned. You can compare programming between a working digital or IP and the SIP extension and see if anything stands out.

External access is SIP. At the moment the outgoing extension for the working digital phones and this SIP phone is set to 82000 (automatic route selection feature code). I'm not sure what you mean by dialing out using the trunk group - should it not be doing that anyway? As far as I can tell everything else between the extensions is the same.

Does the call actually go out and there just isn't audio?

You could try toggling the NAT type on the SIP Phone group - it's either Native or NAT.
