Accessing Auto Attendant
« on: December 27, 2018, 04:11:37 PM »
Hello,

I need to access this mailbox to check messages but I'm not able to login. I changed my dialing plan to let me enter in the mailbox and I've check all the bits under the class of service and login is checked. When I enter in the mailbox number it tells me I'm being transferred to the attendant but then never prompts me for pin. Instead it sends me to the auto attendant I've setup. I've tried taking the auto attendant off and still no luck.

Thanks for any help

Assuming embedded vm, when dialling into the voicemail system you normally dial * until asked to enter your mailbox number.

What procedure are you doing? Are you using embedded or NuPoint

I'm using NuPoint and yes I hit * to enter in the correct mailbox number.

That sounds to me like it may be something to do with the dialing plan.

How soon after you enter the * then mailbox number does the system wait before saying its transferring you, or is it immediate?

I think you need to press * again after entering the mailbox number.

I think Vince is right..

I believe normally you only need to press the * again afterwards if the extension you're calling from already has a mailbox associated with it. The 2nd * tells the system you would like to access a different mailbox.

Yes while the greeting is being played dial * and then your passcode.

In summary, the sequence is:

Call is answered
Press * (If you delay pressing this first star, you lose the option to press it altogether. Must be pressed very soon after the call is answered.)
enter voicemail box you want to administer
Press *
Enter PIN

Depending upon how the AA is setup, I usually have it going to a menu and * may be message center under the menu. If so, after hearing the welcome to the message center prompt entering mailbox plus star will allow login, and number only will try to record to the mailbox entered

Thanks for the info.

That pattern worked. However, after I go into the admin mailbox and change pin then log out and back in. The system says "I did not get your passcode" I checked my COS and login to mailbox is highlighted. When I changed the pin in the mailbox I didn't setup an actual greeting as I don't want one. Not sure if that's the issue?
