Licenses

We have three Mitel 3300 controllers.  Two of them have more IP licenses than they will ever use.  Has anyone ever transfered licenses from one controller to another?  Just trying to save the company a few Bucks.  thanks

depending on how your dealer set them up through the Mitel AMC, the answer is yes.
Your dealer would of had to licenses the systems through the internet and NOT have downloaded them.
Then they can log into the AMC and just move them.  Then they log into the 3300s and re-apply the license.

I think you can even move them around after you have updated the AMC record, but only for a certain period of time. I have several 3300 and we have moved licenses around several times.

Ralph is correct the licenses must have been applied online and not manually with a password also your software assurance must also be up to date.

You may be able to reset the hardware ID.   Just be sure the 3300 can talk to the AMC before doing it.

If the license were downloaded you may still be able to move them. You must upgrade to the next major release (ie 9.0 to MCD 4.0) and call the AMC people and have them clear a flag of some sort on the record. Then you can move them around at that point. Make a backup first!
