Creating Caller ID from non-DID trunks sent to SIP trunks
« on: July 17, 2018, 12:41:13 PM »
Here's the scenario:

I have special ring down trunks delivered to the 3300 (V8.0) via T1 E&M.  No digits are being sent to me.
The trunks do not have caller ID.  In the 3300 Trunk Attributes form I route the calls to a system speed dial that routes the call over SIP trunks to a non-Mitel PBX.
We've discovered a problem on the non-Mitel PBX that causes the the ringing line not to disconnect the call if the caller hangs up before the call is answered.  The trunk itself is cleared.
We've traced the problem to the line not having caller ID of any type.
My question is, can anyone think of a way via SIP Peer Options or COS to force caller ID (variable preferred)?  I can use the default caller ID in the SIP peer but I really need it to be unique for each of the private lines coming in.  Ideally, I would be able to show the trunk label.

How is this done? via T1 channel? If the SIP to the far end doesn't require authentication, perhaps you could set up multiple peers to the same address each have a unique caller id and route accordingly That is unless this is old 8.0

Could you maybe use a name tag hunt group (to associate an "extension"), then use the old-school DID substitution based on extension?

It is a long shot, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Thanks for the replies.
In this case, it in our lab.
The call path is SIP ---> 3300 T1 E&M ---> Carrier (looped back to us) --->3300 ---> SIP.

I've never thought about a name tagged HG.
I'll have to give that a try.
